Nimbuzz Android Upgrade Bring HD Voice Calls

Nimbuzz, the free calls and messaging app, has unveiled Nimbuzz 2.0.2 for Android, which provides free high definition (HD) voice calls for any Android phone. It enables users of the app to make HD calls to their Nimbuzz friends who also have an Android phone. Nimbuzz auto-detects when there is a suitable 3G or wi-fi connection for HD voice calls and displays an HD indicator on the mobile screen.

Nimbuzz’s new peer-to-peer calling system, combined with  HD voice codec from Global IP Solutions (GIPS), makes HD quality calls possible via a direct connection between the two handsets, instead of routing the call through Nimbuzz servers. This connects calls faster, provides crystal clear quality and reduces the number of dropped calls.

The latest release also includes a number of features requested by users. The app now installs on the SD card to save space on phone memory. It also features an updated ‘My Profile’ page to control everything from one place, including status, communities, NimbuzzOut credits and profile information. There’s also a revamped Contact List layout with status icons (Available/Away/Busy) on the right, display pictures on the left and community icons in the bottom right corner.

Nimbuzz 2.0.2 is available for download at and via Android Market. HD calls are currently available only for Android, but are in development for the PC, Symbian and iPhone.
