Nimbuzz Launches in Korea

Nimbuzz has announced the launch of Nimbuzz Korea, offering dedicated operations and local language clients into the 50 million-strong Korean mobile market.
Working in partnership with YSK Media, a Seoul-based media and mobile communications company, Nimbuzz Korea will see Nimbuzzs range of free mobile Instant Messaging (IM) and VoIP services marketed directly to Koreas rapidly-growing audience of Smartphone users.
According to research firm Gartner, following the iPhones introduction to Korea in 2009, Smartphone usage in the country is expected to rise sharply over the next three years, accounting for 25% of the market by 2013.
Nimbuzz says it is well-positioned to take advantage of this growth, with the Nimbuzz for iPhone and PC applications already available in Korean. All additional Nimbuzz clients will now be translated into Korean, with users also enjoying dedicated support and centralized connectivity, plus products and services dedicated to the Korean consumer.
YSK Media will work on Nimbuzzs behalf to create impetus both inside and outside Korea, as well as pursuing operator partnerships, commercial tie-ups and other avenues for growth worldwide.
The Korean mobile market and its Social Network Service (SNS) market offers considerable potential which cannot be overlooked, says YSK Media CEO, Joo-Hee Jung. This is a significant opportunity to build the Nimbuzz network within the Korean SNS market and expand into other Asian countries. Nimbuzz Korea will work to optimize the user experience by offering customized features to Korean users, as well as securing partnerships with domestic and SNS enterprises.
Nimbuzzs free mobile IM and VoIP application, launched in May 2008, enables millions of users worldwide to enjoy free calls and instant messaging with friends across both its own network, and users favourite online social communities.
