Nissan has unveiled what it says is the first smartwatch concept designed to monitor both driver and car performance.
The watch, which has just two buttons, connects with the Nissan Nismo professional sports car range and the users smartphone via an app and bluetooth. Drivers will be able to monitor both their own health as well as that of their car, including fuel consumption, vehicle performance data and biometric data. All of the data is collated within the app on their smartphone and they can share information on platforms like Twitter and Instagram. They will also be able to ‘receive tailored car messages from Nissan’, which is not doubt the best bit…
The app has clearly been designed with elite atheletes in mind, so isnt really going for mass market appeal at this stage. But it will be interesting to find out what someone will do if they want the ability control calls and texts – using something like the Galaxy Gear – as well as doing health and car monitoring. One on each wrist?
