Nokia has signed a multi-year patent license agreement with Huawei. The details of the license agreement are confidential, but Nokia said that it would start to see revenues from the deal in the fourth quarter of 2017.
“Huawei is one of Chinas largest companies and is among the worlds leading smartphone manufacturers and we are delighted to welcome them to our family of patent licensees,” said Maria Varsellona, chief legal officer at Nokia.
While Nokia’s glory days in the handset market are long-gone, its patents, around things such as battery life conservation and improved radio reception, are a welcome legacy.
In addition to Huawei, Nokis has also signed patent deals with Apple, Samsung and LG.
