Novarra has unveiled its new oneweb service, which it says is designed to provide a personalised web experience for consumers, with thousands of apps. Novarra says its vision for oneweb is to remove fragmentation hurdles facing the mobile app ecosystem by seamlessly enabling web, apps and widgets across a broad range of handset platforms. oneweb enables mobile developers to cost effectively create apps by providing a familiar web-application development environment, automatically extended to every handset. The cloud-based solution is easy for consumers to adopt, so service providers and developers can quickly expand reach and generate revenue.
oneweb is immediately usable on thousands of Smartphones and feature phones worldwide, without requiring any software download. It offers simple, fast, always-on access to daily-use activities, including social networking, streaming video, webmail, news and information in a unified dashboard. Users can perform single-click sharing and posts to popular sites including Facebook and Twitter. oneweb will be expanding to enable third party developer apps, widgets and services with dynamic updates and personalisation.
The standardisation of browser-based technologies for the PC led to an explosion of Internet traffic and content, notes Novarra CTO Simon Hunt. The web is clearly evolving to a dynamic environment, with HTML 5 enabling rich Internet applications. We are committed to expanding oneweb as a similar platform-agnostic solution to meet the needs of the mobile developer community.
