O2 is scrapping European roaming charges for all its UK customers

Tyrone Stewart

O2O2 has announced its plans to scrap European roaming charges for its UK pay monthly, pay as you go and business customers.

From 15 June 2017, customers will be able to use their inclusive allowances while travelling in O2’s ‘Europe Zone’ – meaning they will be able to make, and receive, calls and texts to anyone in the Zone, as well as using their data. If in need of more data, customers can get add-ons just like at home.

Despite being able to make calls to any other Europe Zone country when within the Zone, customers will still be charged extra if they make calls from the UK to any other country.

The Europe Zone covers 47 countries – including France, Germany, Italy, and Spain – for pay monthly and business customers. Pay as you go customers will miss out on five of the locations, in the form of Guernsey, the Isle of Man, Jersey, Monaco, and Switzerland. A full list of the countries can be found here.

In line with scrapping roaming charges, O2 is also giving away three weekend breaks to a European destination through its social channels.
