O2 has revealed that it has extended its current contract with the AA (Automobile Association), under which it provides all mobile services for the AAs employees, including voice, data and BlackBerry connections, until June 2013.
In addition, the new deal will see O2 supplying bespoke mobile and data solutions which address the specific needs of the business and are designed to drive efficiencies. The team will also provide consultancy services to ensure customers have the most efficient system possible, conducting voice and data audits to identify and correct problems, in order to optimise the solution.
The AA supplies breakdown cover to around 15 million members. Mobility lies at the core of being able to deliver this service and, as such, the demands on its telecoms supplier are exacting when it comes to overall network performance, coverage, resilience and speed.
Mobile technology is a key mechanism for us to target our end users, says Chris Bailey, Head of Motoring Technologies at the AA. We require a mobile partner with a robust and reliable network that has excellent coverage across the UK. O2 has proven that it can provide us with a flexible solution across a range of devices and its commitment to helping us drive efficiencies and effectively manage such an intrinsic part of our business has shown it to be the right partner for us.
Separately, O2 has signed a contract to sign a contract with SAGA to provide all mobile services for SAGA staff, including voice, data and BlackBerry connections, having, as O2 gleefully puts it: successfully beaten off competition from Vodafone.
SAGA group provides health, travel, insurance and money services to people over the age of 50. It has a customer base of 2.5 million.
