OMA Elects Deutsche Telekom/T-Mobile Exec as Chair

The Open Mobile Alliance has elected Gary Jones of Deutsche Telekom/T-Mobile as the chairman of its board of directors.
Jones is senior director and head of technical standards policy for T-Mobile in the US where he coordinates the T-Mobile standards group’s work with the 3rd Generation Partnership Project and the ITU. He is also chairman of the GSMA North America standards working group and VC of 3GPs service and systems aspects technical specification group.
Bryan Sullivan, director of service enabler standards for AT&T, and Cecilia Corbi, who leads the service layer standardisation team at Telecom Italia, have been elected vice-chairs.
“OMA is a well-run and entrepreneurial organisation with a long history of developing successful specifications, and I am honored to be chosen as Chairman of the Board of Directors,” he said. “As smartphones, mobile computing and the associated mobile applications become ubiquitous, I look forward to driving innovation in OMA’s work program and operations that result in specifications that bring value to our members and the mobile industry at large.”
