OMG UK celebrates 100th successful placement in programme promoting accessibility in digital careers

Omnicom Media Group (OMG) UK is celebrating its 100th successful placement in its programme promoting accessibility in digital careers, run in collaboration with WYK Digital, a non-profit social enterprise, in partnership with The Princes Trust. The announcement marks a significant milestone for OMG UK and WYK Digital, highlighting their dedication to supporting under-served and under-represented young people, with over 80 per cent of OMG’s programme trainees hailing from minority backgrounds.

Manchester-born Hatim Ahmed secured the role of Display Assistant at MG OMD, becoming its 100th successful placement. A three-month course commissioned by the Prince’s Trust helped Ahmed realise his true calling to work in digital marketing, and with the help of WYK, he secured his placement at MG OMD. OMG UK has supported the programme, and played a crucial role in its success, for the last three and a half years.

Through 11-week, full-time digital marketing training accelerators, young individuals from diverse backgrounds are empowered to excel in the digital marketing industry. By providing free training and hands-on experience through live digital marketing campaigns with real businesses, it equips the trainees with the skills and confidence necessary to succeed in the field.

Of OMG UK’s successful placements so far, 80 per cent are from minority backgrounds, 44 per cent don’t have a degree, 69 per cent are female, and 18 per cent have further support needs. After completing the training programme, WYK Digital actively assists its trainees in securing employment opportunities.

Cecilia Barbin secured the role of Biddable Executive at MG OMD, part of OMG UK, after participating in WYK Digital’s first cohort in 2021. Commenting on her journey, she said: “Ive been with MG OMD for nearly two years now, and Ive enjoyed working here so much. I got into WYK by chance, and its been the best thing for me as it led me to work here.”

Rob Jackson, Founder and Director at WYK Digital, added: “At WYK Digital, we firmly believe in the power of digital marketing as a vehicle for social change. By specifically focusing on under-served and under-represented communities, we are creating opportunities and fostering diversity within the industry. This milestone with OMG  exemplifies the incredible impact that can be achieved through collaboration and dedication.”
