Open Mobile Terminal Platform (OMTP), the mobile operator-led terminal recommendations organization, has recruited five new member companies: Purple Labs, Nexperience, Huawei Technologies Co., Comverse and Communology. They joint the existing eight members, AT&T, Hutchison 3G, Orange, Telecom Italia, Telefnica, Telenor, T-Mobile and Vodafone.
OMTP is currently in the process of finalising the launch of its Open Source Reference Implementation for BONDI. It says that the BONDI Reference Implementation will be a key milestone on the way to driving de-fragmentation in the mobile web runtime environment. Further, it will enable platform providers, browser vendors, developers and operators to get an unambiguous understanding of how a web application can make use of device capabilities in a way which simplifies and unifies access, but at the same time can protect the user from malicious access. The first release of the Reference Implementation will be launched later this month.
The OMTP builds its success on the diverse mix of organisations that are involved in the organisation, says OTMP Managing Director, Tim Raby. We constantly appreciate the efforts of all our members and we are delighted that these leading organisations have taken up membership with the OMTP – the experience and knowledge we have is second to none and is constantly building.
