Holidaymakers are shunning travel agents and package deals in favour of shopping around on price comparison, loyalty and cashback apps and sites, according to research by Tradedoubler.
19 per cent of 2,500 smartphone users in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and Poland said they had booked a holiday using their mobile handset. This rose to 28 per cent among 25-34-year-olds, and even 7 per cent of over 55s have made the leap to mobile booking.
“Airlines, hotels and holiday operators without a presence on the right performance channels are going to lose out,” said Dan Cohen, regional Director of Tradedoubler on the launch of the Performance Marketing: Travellers & Purchase Paths whitepaper.
