Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) is currently installed on just 7.5 per cent of active Android devices, over six months after its release last October.

This means the most recent version of the OS is only the fourth most commonly-used, behind Lollipop (5.0-5.1), with the leading share of 35.6 per cent; KitKat (4.4), with 32.5 per cent; and JellyBean (4.1-4.3) with 20.1 per cent.

By comparison iOS 9, which launched last September, is installed on 84 per cent of iPhones and iPads.

These figures come straight from Google, and are based on devices which are connected to the Google Play Store.
