VAS (Value-Added Services) company OnMobile has acquired Livewire Mobile, provider of mobile entertainment solutions, for the sum of $17.8m (£11.6m).
OnMobile is acquiring Livewire’s business assets and certain liabilities, as well as the purchase of stock of Livewires UK-based managed services arm Fonestarz Media.
Livewire provides manufacturers and telcos – including Sprint, MetroPCS, and Public Mobile – with mobile music servies, including ringtones, ringback tones, and full-track music downloads.
“The acquisition of Livewire Mobile, with its reputation for providing cutting-edge music services, will help us consolidate our global leadership position in ringback tones and music by firmly establishing our presence in North America for these services,” said OnMobile co-founder and CEO Mouli Raman.
Livewire will be rebranded as OnMobile Live following the acquisition.
