Opera Mediaworks Moves into Africa with AdVine Acquisition

African man modern dress on phoneOpera Mediaworks, one of the worlds largest mobile ad platforms, has acquired South African mobile ad network AdVine, giving it a foothold in the African market for the first time, and dramatically expanding its reach in Africa.

The acquisition enables brands interested in reaching mobile consumers in the region to access Opera Mediaworks rich media and video campaign platform, and places the company in one of the fastest growing mobile markets, with mobile subscriptions predicted to grow from 600m to 930m by the end of 2019.

The two companies have a long-standing relationship, with AdVine having already worked at monetising Operas owned and operated mobile-ad inventory in the region. Opera plans to significantly expand its investment in the continent to better serve the market.
