Digital entertainment company Buongiorno has signed a new, larger and more comprehensive agreement with Orange for the management of the operators WAP portals in Africa. The new contract supersedes a previous agreement that saw Buongiorno providing Orange with interactive mobile services and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) services.
The new Buongiorno-Orange agreement names Buongiorno as full portal management provider to Orange WAP portals in the Ivory Coast, Kenya, Mali, Equatorial Guinea, Niger, Senegal and RCA by the end of 2008. Under the terms of the agreement, Buongiorno will provide technological, operational, and marketing expertise, as well as applications and content designed to enrich Oranges offering to its consumers.
The WAP portal, named Orange World, will be fully designed and managed by Buongiorno, offering local African music, news, sport and graphics from Buongiornos extensive international content catalogue and third-party content providers.
According to Portio Research, there are over 280 million mobile subscribers in the Pan-African region and this figure is set to double in the next three years. Therefore the region is expected to contribute approximately 500 million new subscribers to the estimated 1.5 billion worldwide subscriber additions from end-2007 to end-2011.
