Orange has launched an online community for film fans, building on the companys long-standing association with the movie world. Orange has also developed a Facebook application to make it easier for its customers to take advantage of the Orange Wednesdays two-for-one promotion.
The Orange Film Club gives Facebook and Bebo users access to movie content such as free preview screenings and exclusive film competitions. Users signing up at launch will be invited to a free screening of Sex Drive. Film club users will also receive regular updates and access to the Orange Wednesdays Movie Show, which offers a weekly digest of movie news and previews.
The Facebook application shows users which of their friends are also using it, the idea being that users can then get a group together to go and watch a film. Users can send invitations to other users by entering their friends name, the film, location and screening time. Non-Orange customers can use the application to Poke a friend who is and politely ask them to take them to the movies.
