Ours is Bigger than Yours

Oh dear, what have we started? We put up a story about Incentivateds huge (in physical terms) SMS campaign for Countryside Properties and TXT4  get in touch to say theyve got one bigger.
The largest SMS call to action, says TXT4, was featured by Vauxhall at the end of July, when they became the first to use the biggest poster site in Europe. To coincide with the launch of the new Corsa at the British International Motor Show, the 4,000m poster appeared on the Millennium Mill Building in Londons Docklands, overlooking the Motor Shows ExCel venue.
Designed to attract the attention of the Shows 500,000 visitors, the poster incorporated TXT4s response technology, encouraging consumers to text CORSA to 84464 for more information. Respondents were given the option of completing an SMS conversation to register their address for future correspondence, or following a link to a dedicated WAP site. This was also developed by TXT4, and features graphics of the car and a configurator, enabling users to apply their choice of colour and trims, along with a dealer locator and brochure request.
TXT4 is now working with Vauxhall to develop a WAP site for every vehicle to create a portfolio of mobile sites.
Incentivated seems unconcerned about the news, however. Contacted for a reaction, Commercial Director Robert Thurner told us:
Some things never change, it seems. In the dim and distant past, some in the outdoor industry spent many a long hour boasting that mine is bigger than yours. Advertisers at the time showed a consistent lack of interest in this kind of thing. They were more interested in awareness and response levels. Surely that should be the focus for all in the communications industry today.
