Over 100 Countries Show More Than 30 Per Cent Smartphone Use

buzzcity-logoBuzzCity’s latest report has found that surfing activity across the globe up is 27 per cent on 2012, with more than 100 countries now showing 30 per cent or more smartphone penetration on its network.

The report features a survey of 19,000 respondents in 20 countries who were asked about their mobile behaviour. 89 per cent of under-20s said that mobile was their preferred device for accessing the web, with 81.4 per cent surfing mobile-only. The report highlights that employers and brands need to ensure mobile is a key part of their business strategy.

The survey also found that many are actually opting to surf less to avoid ‘bill shock’. Dr KF Lai, CEO and founder of BuzzCity, said: “This aspect of the industry seems to have regressed to the landscape we saw back in 2006 to 2007 – the call needs to be made again for simple data plans with more predictable pricing.”
