Oxygen8 Plans Mobile Platform for Bengali TV Channel

Channel S, the European-based Bengali-language TV channel, has partnered with Oxygen8 Communications to provide a voice platform for interactive TV – and the channels CEO says that mobile is coming next. 

The channel, which caters for Bangladeshis living throughout the UK and Europe, provides news, views, advice, and entertainment programming. It is available on Sky, and is watched by around 70,000 people in the UK alone, according to the company. 

Taz Choudhury, chief executive at Channel S Television, says: “Moving forward we will be utilising Oxygen8s knowledge and experience in the mobile sector to develop a mobile platform,” he says. “This will provide us with another new medium for interacting with our viewers, both on air and off air, and gives us the opportunity to broaden the range of services we can deliver.”

The Channels new voice platform, provided by Oxygen8 Communications, allows the channel to run phone-ins and on-air competitions with viewers, helping the channel to enhance interaction with its viewers. 

Choudhury says: “We were looking for a voice platform which would allow us to invite our viewers to comment on programmes as well as participate with live programmes.
