Mobile entertainment developer and publisher Ozura Mobile has signed an agreement with Korean-based wireless solution company Nemodigm which will see Nemodigm distribute Ozuras mobile games through its network of carriers and partners. The deal will enable 139 million mobile subscribers in South Korea and Japan to experience Ozuras mobile games.
Figures from Wireless World Forum suggest that the number of mobile subscribers in Japan will reach 106 million by the end of 2009, with a CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) from 2004 to 2009 of 3.96%. On top of that, over 70% of these users are said to have played a mobile game more than once a week and 38.4% of the remainders play almost every day.
In South Korea, mobile gaming appears to be the second-largest sector of the countrys gaming industry, according to Pearl Research. The revenue of the games market in South Korea is forecast to exceed $2 billion in 2007, driven by the fast growing online and mobile games market. Reports from Research and Markets also reveal that 4.5 million mobile games downloads take place every month in Korea, with 12% of Korean consumers buying a game every month.
