Parceline Rolls Out SMS Service

ParcelineParcels carrier Parceline has
launched an interactive SMS messaging system to arrange delivery of
goods direct with the receiver of the parcel. Consumers receive a text
message informing them when the parcel will be delivered, and send a
reply to confirm that they will be at home. Alternatively, they can
choose from one of three alternative dates that are more convenient for
them to take the delivery. Parceline has applied for a patent for the
service.
According to statistics from IMRG (Interactive Media in Retail Group),
the industry body for global e-retailing, 12% of home deliveries fail
at the first attempt, generating additional costs for retailers.
The home delivery market continues to grow rapidly, and its weak point
to date has been lack of an effective notification and delivery
solution says Parceline Executive Director of Sales and CRM, Dwain
McDonald. This new service not only gives a great experience to the
end recipient, it also offers leading players in the mobile phone
sector a valued added service they can provide to their customers.
As McDonald points out, the service is also good for the environment.
As well make more first-time deliveries, fewer return journeys will
be necessary he says. So less miles travelled, less fuel used and so
a reduction in carbon emissions and congestion. Its an all-round
winner.
