Wireless mobile accessory company Parrot has struck a deal with Ford to supply its Bluetooth handsfree calling and wireless music streaming
technology in a new range of Ford cars in Spain.
The Ford Bluetooth Music car range will carry Parrots music streaming
technology in the Fiesta, Fusion, Focus and Focus C-Max. The technology
was developed in partnership with Sony-Ericsson, and made possible
thanks to the innovations in audio signal processing developed by
Parrot.
The solution originates from Parrots MK6000, a Bluetooth car-kit which
integrates audio streaming functionality, enabling drivers to listen to
tracks stored on mobile phones, PDAs or MP3 players wirelessly through
the cars speakers. The MK6000 was the first of Parrots new generation
of music kits designed for the car, adding to the advantages of
handsfree Bluetooth car-kits with the ability to wirelessly stream
music.
Ford Bluetooth Music allows handsfree control including answering,
hanging up, navigating through the phones menus, turning the music on
or off, and selecting a track. When a call comes in while music is
playing, the music automatically mutes, and resumes once the call is
ended.
Parrot says sound quality from the MK6000 is outstanding, thanks to the
use of a double-microphone system, called Parrot Beamforming, which
eliminates more background noise. The Music-Kit also integrates
text-to-speech functionality, using voice synthesis to read out contact
names in the mobiles phonebook, eliminating the need for a screen.
Parrot says its audio streaming technology works with all Bluetooth
Stereo (A2DP) devices allowing the continuous transmission of an audio
signal, whether it is a mobile phone, PC, MP3 player or PDA, and with
minimal sound quality loss.
