Payleven Reveals NFC Chip & Pin Readers

coffee_2_web_ukPayleven has revealed its NFC mobile chip & PIN card reader, set to launch in European markets in the second half of 2014.

Payleven says the readers, which are aimed at SMEs, will cost around £100 upfront, with no minimum monthly payments or fixed contract.

“NFC definitely has the potential to become the market standard for contactless payments. However, until now the hurdle for SMEs has been the huge cost associated with it”, says Konstantin Wolff, founder and CMO of Payleven. “By launching our new device we will be offering a disruptive solution that will help our customers to keep up with cutting edge technology, making their business even more efficient with NFC.”

There are currently 35.9m contactless cards in circulation in the UK, according to research from the UK Cards Association – although currently these are only used to make 8.5m monthly transactions.
