PayPal App Promotes Local Merchants in 125 Countries

PayPal has relaunched its PayPal app in 125 countries with a local tab so users can find merchants nearby that accept its Here payments.

In a bid to integrate more of its wide range of services, the consumer app now includes three key areas: local businesses accepting PayPal Here payments, wallet functions and peer-to-peer money transfers.

Around 40 different locations in London are accepting PayPal today, with consumers able to pay with their picture, pre-order to avoid the queue and pay at the table in restaurants using the app. “Rest assured, there are many more locations to follow all around the country. Watch this space,” the blog announcement assures.

The new version of the app also adds functionality for push notifications – perhaps a precursor to location-based offers.
