PayPal is now offering its user the ability to pay via their mobile at participating petrol stations and convenience stores across the US.
Through a partnership with POS company, Gilbarco Veeder-Root, the initial effort will launch to retailers who are using its Passport point-of-sale technology, with a range of retail applications on the way. Users will scan a QR code at the pump to pay.
“Our customers recognise PayPal as a global leader in digital payment, and we are excited to work with them on this innovative payment solution and to collaborate on a number of other retail initiatives,” said Mike Schulte, president of Gilbarco North America. “The PayPal mobile solution will be a cornerstone of our suite of retail applications.”
“Our collaboration with Gilbarco is giving shoppers even more of what they want – being able to use PayPal any where they want and how they want, in a simple, fast and secure way,” said Don Kingsborough, VP, retail services, PayPal.
