Picsel Technologies, a mobile platform provider delivering rich, intuitive visual experiences to any mobile device, is celebrating winning a double Queens Award for Enterprise for its success in International Trade and Innovation. Picsel is only the second company to receive a Double Queens Award in the same year. The award was presented to Picsel CEO, Imran Khand, yesterday by The Duke of York at Picsels offices in Glasgow.
The Queens Awards for Enterprise are the UKs most prestigious awards for business performance. Presented each year on the advice of the Prime Minister, and assisted by an Advisory Committee that includes representatives of the Government, industry and commerce, and trade unions, the awards recognise contributions made by innovative companies across the UK.
Receiving two Queens Awards is indeed a great honour and in turn acknowledges the companys achievements over the past 12 months, says Khand. The accolade of a royal seal of approval for our business clearly positions us as one of the top performing businesses in the UK.
Picsel has enjoyed tremendous success in international trade, increasing exports by five times over three years since its inception in 1999. It has enjoyed particular success in Asia, with its main markets being Korea and Japan. It has also developed a strong base of prestigious partners, including leading manufacturers Samsung, NTT DoCoMo, Sharp, Motorola, NEC, KTF, Toshiba and LG.
Picsels success in innovation stems from its ePAGE technology. This is a graphics rendering engine for mobile devices which enables consumers to interact with every type of content, in all its original richness, on any kind of device. To date, ePAGE technology has been preloaded onto more than 200 million devices worldwide.
2007 also saw similar success for Picsel within the Fast Growth Business Awards, The Red Herring Global 100 Awards, the Scottish Software Awards, the e250 Awards, the Deliotte Technology Fast 50, the Tech Track 100 Awards, and the BCS IT Industry Awards.
