Mobile platform provider Picsel Technologies has announced partnerships with two more content providers. The first is with The Associated Press (AP) to offer a news and photo service for mobiles in Europe.
The mobile service will feature selected material from all premium areas of content, including World, National, Sports and Entertainment News, and will be launched on Java-enabled handsets in Europe in Q3 2007.
Subscribers of the service will be offered AP-branded breaking news and imagery, combined with Picsels rich mobile content solution, which will feature interactive photo galleries, pushed content and both online and offline browsing,” says Ted Mendelsohn, Director of Business Development for AP Digital Sales.
Picsels second partnership is with FrictionTV, a debating website. Picsel says the partnership is the first step in bringing the power of debate to the mobile platform, a true democratisation of content and content creation on mobile.
Over the next three months, we will be working closely with Picsel to develop our mobile offering, says Omer Shaikh, Chief Executive Officer at FrictionTV. Picsels content viewing solution will bring a new dimension to online debate, enabling democracy to extend its reach into the mobile channel.
There are currently more than 100 million Picsel-enabled handsets in the marketplace from global OEMs and network operators. Now addressing the needs of content owners, Picsel says its innovative solutions will continue to deliver compelling content experiences for the mobile user, independent of screen size or device.
Since inception, FrictionTV has built a loyal and ever growing following, attracting more than 100,000 visitors a month, says Picsel CEO, Imran Khand. FrictionTV is a progressive dynamic new content player that is changing the landscape for user generated content and online debate. We will be working closely with FrictionTV to bring the debate to mobile users worldwide.
For carriers, OEMs and brand owners who wish to create a business in mobile content, Picsel says its solutions help drive the delivery and uptake of mobile content through the richest user experience available. Unlike the inherent limitations of current mobile content delivery, Picsels solution enables rich content on mobile. The result is that the mobile content user experience is catalysed, attracting new revenue streams for brands, content owners, handset OEMS and operators alike.
