Cloud Engines, the company behind a cloud-based streaming service called Pogoplug, has announced a hardware product to go with the service.
The product, called Pogoplug Mobile, connects to all your devices and allows you to stream content from your computer or SD cards to a iOS or Android over the internet. The content remains on the users existing hard drive storage.
Content such as music libraries, photo collections, and movies that are stored on computers at home can be accessed remotely via a mobile.
“People today have an almost unlimited need to create and consume multimedia content on their mobile devices,” says Daniel Putterman, CEO and founder of Cloud Engines. “Unfortunately, their devices just cant keep up; mobile storage remains too expensive. Pogoplug Mobile solves this problem by providing an incredible streaming and at-home backup solution that turns any mobile device into an limitless media library.”
The company says that Pogoplug Mobile provides Android users with an alternative to Apples forthcoming iCloud service, while iOS users can use it as an “at-home” companion to iCloud.
Content is accessed on the move through native apps, or through a web browser.
The Pogoplug Mobile will be available in October for £59.99. Pre-orders can be placed at the companys website.
