Polar Mobile World Cup App Sees 265,000 Downloads in a Month

Polar Mobile has revealed that its WC2010 World Cup app for Blackberry was downloaded by over 265,000 users from and served over 26m page views during the 30-day tournament.

Powered by Polar’s SMART Platform, the free WC2010 app was exclusive to BlackBerry and distributed exclusively through BlackBerry App World. The app featured live scores, news, stats, schedules and standings. It also offered an easy-to-use interface, fast load time and support for five languages – English, French, Italian, German and Spanish.

43 per cent of people who downloaded the app used it every day, and 15 per cent shared the app with a friend by email. There were an average of 11 page views per day, and the app was downloaded by users in 50 countries, with the top five countries (in order) being the US, Indonesia, the UK, Canada and S. Africa.

“We are proud that WC2010 was one of the fastest growing and most popular apps for BlackBerry users during the World Cup”, says Polar Mobile CEO, Kunal Gupta. “Sports fans demand a killer user experience on their mobile device and we continue to deliver exactly that.”
