UK-based Powa Technologies continues its expansion into the Asia Pacific market with a deal to integrate its PowaTag mobile payment system in Indonesias Hypermart stores.

Initially, the PowaTag app will power coupon distribution and redemption for Hypermarts HiCard loyalty program, which has over three million members and accounts for over 60 per cent of total Hypermart sales.

Following this, coupon redemption via PowaTag will be deployed across 48 of Hypermarts 102 stores in Indonesia. A similar deal was already in place between Hypermart and MPayMe, who were acquired earlier this year by Powa.

“PowaTag technology enables Hypermart to bring global best-in-class technology to the Indonesian market, allowing customers to experience the convenience of HiCard loyalty through their mobile device,” said Dan Wagner, CEO of Powa Technologies. “No longer will they have to seek out coupons and offers from newspapers, laboriously clipping and taking them into the store – all thats needed now is a quick capture of the PowaTag with their mobile, and numerous coupons are instantly available to them.”
