Premier Inn App Generates £1m in Three Months

The UK’s largest budget hotel chain, Premier Inn, has revealed that its mobile app has generated revenues of over £1m in just three months since launching in January 2011.

The app, created by Grapple Mobile, in partnership with Fujitsu UK & Ireland, launched on 14 January, and has so far been downloaded to over 250,000 phones across the UK and Ireland, enabling customers to book, check and manage their hotel bookings on the go. As many of them evidently have been doing.

The app is available for iPhone, Android, Nokia and Blackberry. It is free to download and features real-time availability of all 590 Premier Inn hotels, as well as the option to access photographs of every hotel and pinpoint them on a map.l

“Premier Inn was the first budget chain in the hospitality industry to produce an app that is available for all smartphones,” says Premier Inn’s Steve Conway. (Not including WinPhone 7 – Ed). “Reaching a quarter of a million downloads shows how much consumers value good booking systems that they can use on the go. We always want to ensure our customers have the best experience when booking and staying with us, so enabling them to do it on the go was the next step.”

Grapple is currently working on a refined version of the app, based on feedback from guests.
