The Premier League has released Away Days, the first official companion app for football fans, aimed at providing travelling fans with rewards and enhancing their away day experience.
The free app, available on iOS and Android, provides fans of all Premier League clubs with a single entry point to a range of information and benefits, including travel information, places to stay, pubs to visit and stadium details, as well as money off deals and match-day updates.
The app was created and developed by Future Platforms, and designed with fans and their needs at its core. Its development comes as part of the Away Supporters Initiative, which saw clubs commit to spending a total of £4m per season on improving the experience for travelling fans. As a result of the initiative, last year saw a 2.8 per cent rise in away attendance, with clubs selling a record 95.9 per cent of all available seats.
"The Away Days app – which a number of fans helped us create – is the next phase of our work in this area," said Cathy Long, head of supporter services at the Premier League. "It helps newer fans to find their way around and rewards those loyal away fans that travel far and wide to follow their clubs with a variety of offers."
"Developing the app from a fan's perspective was a crucial part of the process for the Premier League," said Adam Croxen, managing director at Future Platforms. "Without their input we wouldn't have known what it meant to make them feel at home, no matter which stadium they were visiting. We're proud of the app we've created and we hope the fans will be too."
