Progressive Expands Mobile Offerings

According to comScore, one in four mobile users now have smartphones and by this time next year, research company Nielsen estimates the number will be one in two. To meet the growing demand for information on-the-go, the Progressive car insurance group has expanded its mobile offerings, with iPhone and Android apps, and a mobile-optimised site.

Drivers in the US can now get Progressive car insurance quotes through any mobile browser at http://mobile.progressive.com. Mobile quoting is available in more than a dozen states and will expand to more states throughout 2011. Customers can also add Roadside Assistance to their policies and call for help with Progressive’s iPhone and Google Android apps. The apps also include helpful safety tips and advice, such as how to jump-start a dead battery, and how to change a flat tire.

Progressive has also created iPhone and Google apps featuring its fictional sales clerk Flo, who fetaures in the companys advertising, as well as an iPhone app featuiring 40 pieces from its progressive art collection.
