Qualcomm Deploys Plaza Mobile Internet in Latin America

Qualcomm, which develops advanced wireless technologies, products and services, and Latin American mobile operator group Amrica Mvil, have announced an agreement to deploy Qualcomms Plaza Mobile Internet offering, to power Amrica Mvils Ideas Widget service across all of its 18 subsidiaries in Latin America, reaching more than 190 million wireless subscribers.
Qualcomms Plaza Mobile Internet is an end-to-end widget platform that will allow Amrica Mvil to provide its end users with immediate and convenient access to customizable Internet content from mobile devices across their device portfolio. In addition, users can quickly and easily download and manage an array of rich, customizable content, either from their device or online.
According to Qualcomm, Plaza Mobile Internet enables publishers to develop widgets quickly and easily using open web standards and tools. Through this solution, it says, publishers and content providers will be able to develop and submit their creations to Amrica Mvils widget catalog.
We believe that providing end users with an easy way to extend their online lives to their mobile devices will help drive mobile Internet use and create additional revenue opportunities for Amrica Mvil, says Plaza Mobile Internet Managing Director, Noam Raffaelli. Qualcomm is using its expertise building strong publisher and developer ecosystems to ensure that Amrica Mvil can deliver targeted content to its subscribers throughout Latin America.
