Quantcast Analyses the Mobile Web

Web analytics site Quantcast has added mobile web traffic measurement to its platform. By registering, and pasting a tag into the HTML code of a webpage, users can track visitors to their mobile site, stratified by operating system, country, gender and age demographics.

“Web users are increasingly using handheld devices, including tablets and smartphones, to access web content on the go which means the mobile space has reached critical importance for marketers and publishers alike,” says Phil Macauley, regional managing director, Quantcast. “Quantcasts new mobile web traffic helps website owners understand mobile traffic contribution, and patterns including usage by operating system, individual country and subdomain.”

Quantcast also offers a ranking list, displaying the most popular mobile sites using the service – a ranking currently led in the US by answers.com with nearly 8m monthly mobile visitors.
