Qustodian Signs Up Sir Bobby Robson Foundation

Sports Revolution is linking up with the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation as charity partner for its new mobile content and rewards fan app, Qustodian Sports.

As a result of the partnership, users of the Qustodian service, which offers football fans cash rewards for interacting with commercial messages delivered to their phone, will be able to donate some or all of this income directly to Sir Bobby’s charity.

Qustodian Sports credits cash to fans who opt-in to receive messages from advertisers. Once credits reach £10, the user is given the option of having the money paid directly into their bank or PayPal account, or donating it to the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.

Qustodian Sports will also be promoting Sir Bobby’s Breakthrough Auction – an online auction which took place over the weekend, and is raising money for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

Some of the biggest names in world football have donated unique items and experiences, including David Beckham’s shirt, and the 2010 FIFA World Coach of the Year trophy, donated by his one-time protégé and former Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho. With Sir Bobby’s former club, FC Barcelona, donating a training session with star player Lionel Messi, the auction was also promoted on the Spanish version of Qustodian, which launched last year, and now has over 130,000 registered members.

Advertisers already using the service in the UK include Npower, 188Bet Men’s Fitness magazine. The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, which raises money to fight cancer, will now sit alongside these brands in users’ inboxes, linking through to a two-minute video appeal by Sir Bobby, filmed when he launched the charity in 2008.

“Sir Bobby was an incredible man who generated respect and affection from fans of all football clubs,” says Pauline Buglass, head of fundraising for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation. “We hope that those enjoying Qustodian Sports will help us continue the important fund-raising work Sir Bobby began. We’re particularly happy that the Qustodian service is being used to promote Sir Bobby’s Breakthrough Auction. It has attracted unbelievable support, especially from Sir Bobbys former clubs and we’re very grateful to everyone for their help.”

Sir Bobby and Lady Elsie Robson launched the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation in March 2008 to help find more effective ways to treat and diagnose cancer. It funds projects which directly benefit cancer patients including the clinical trials of new drugs at the Sir Bobby Robson Cancer Trials Research Centre in Newcastle upon Tyne.
