RapidNFC and txtNation have partnered to offer direct carrier billing for people making purchases using NFC.
People with NFC-enabled handsets can scan tags placed by brands on products or visual marketing materials and are then charged to their contract or pay-as-you-go balance over the mobile internet.
The user must confirm the one-click transaction using the payment interface, which can be tailored by each brand running a campaign. If they are using wi-fi rather than 3G or 4G, they must enter their mobile number to confirm. Each payment is also confirmed in an SMS to the customer.
The user does not have to make an additional link to their bank account, card payment or enter a username or password. The solution works in any country where carriers support MSISDN pass-through.
Businesses can try the service for free by emailing txtNation. The company has been trialling the solution with Payforit in the UK.
