Real-time Stats from Content Guru

In a bid to help restore confidence in the beleaguered Premium Rate Services and Call TV markets, hosted services company Content Guru has announced the launch of  real-time statistics features for its high volume, converged media platform, STORM (Services for Television, Online and Radio Media).
The UK Call TV market has been under the spotlight over the past few months with questions raised by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), PRS regulator ICSTIS and telecoms regulator Ofcom, over the fairness and transparency of many Call TV services. Blue Peter, Richard and Judy, Big Brother, GMTV, and many other shows have all featured heavily in the media for alleged fraudulent or misleading practises.
STORM is supported by technology from converged and value added services company Redwood Technologies, whose Call TV systems are used by providers including BT and KPN.
With the introduction of its real-time statistics capability, allowing generation of service statistics down to the second, STORM claims it is the only platform in the UK fully equipped to implement all of the requirements of the latest DCMS enquiry, and enables forward-looking broadcasters and service providers to make their programming fully compliant. With its VoIP infrastructure, STORM also provides backhaul of overseas traffic for handling at its UK nodes.
Already several thousand ports strong, and hosting a variety of Call TV, PRS and NGN switching services, STORM says it is aiming to become Europes largest call handling platform by Q4 2007.
Participation media has grown rapidly to become an important element in the broadcasters mix says Content Guru Director Martin Taylor. However, recent adverse media coverage and important consumer interest issues now threaten the future of this promising sector. Our platforms guarantee the complete transparency and accountability needed to satisfy both the consumer and the legislator. Rebuilding viewer trust, enabling new, exciting programme formats and constructing a framework of sustainable revenues means some pretty tough challenges lie ahead. With trusted technology from Redwood, we can provide the services to make that happen.
