Red Bend Secures Chinese Deal

Red Bend Software has revealed that Beijing Beny Wave Science And Technology Co., a leading domestic-brand handset vendor in China, has licensed its vCurrent Mobile firmware over-the-air (FOTA) updating software.
Two Red Bend-enabled handsets, the K-Touch N170 and N650, are available now through China Mobile Communications Corporation, the worlds largest mobile operator, with a customer base of more than 400 million subscribers. Additional handset models with Red Bends software have been certified by China Mobile and are planned for shipment later this year.
Beny Wave was formerly known as Beijing Tianyu Communication Equipment Co. The company sold 17 million handsets in 2007, making it the fourth largest mobile phone provider in the country. Red Bend says the deal signals continued traction for its technology in the Chinese market, with new customers ZTE, Nollec and Lenovo Mobile announced earlier this year.
To support Beny Wave, Red Bend has integrated its vCurrent Mobile FOTA software with the MTK platform. vCurrent Mobile is available in 365 million devices worldwide, and according to Red Ben, enables operators and manufacturers to quickly, securely and cost-effectively deliver firmware updates over-the-air to consumers mobile phones. Red Bends solutions support Open Mobile Alliance Device Management (OMA-DM) standards and are interoperable with OMA-DM compliant servers.
