Apple and Salesforce have announced the launch of a redesigned Salesforce Mobile app and the Trailhead GO learning app, both of which offer features exclusive to iOS and iPadOS. The companies also announced the next-generation Salesforce Mobile SDK, which enables developers to easily build and deploy native apps for iPhone and iPad on the Salesforce Platform.
The redesigned Salesforce Mobile App is powered by Salesforce’s Einstein AI Smart CRM Assistant. It features advanced analytics and exclusive iOS features, including Siri shortcuts and Face ID.
Trailhead GO is the first mobile app for Trailhead, Salesforce’s online learning platform, and is exclusive to iOS and iPadOS. It offers mobile access to over 700 modules (trails), including trails like ‘Get Started with iOS App Development’, which teaches developers how to build native apps for iOS. iPadOS features include Split View for multi-tasking and Picture-in-Picture for video courses.
The new Salesforce Mobile SDK is optimized for iOS 13 and Swift, Apple’s programming language. It adds support for the latest advancements in iOS 13, iPadOS and Swift, including Swift UI and Package Manager, for easier compiling and distribution of code.
“Working together, Apple and Salesforce have helped hundreds of businesses and millions of developers transform the way they work,” said Susan Prescott, Apples vice president of product marketing for apps, markets and services. “With brand new Salesforce Mobile apps exclusive to iOS and iPadOS, and an enhanced SDK that supports the latest advancements in Swift, Apple together with Salesforce offers customers strong privacy, powerful multitasking and the best user experience in business on iPhone and iPad.”
The Salesforce Mobile app and Trailhead GO apps are available now for free on the App Store. The Salesforce Mobile SDK 8.0, with support for Dark Mode and Swift UI, is expected to be available later this year, with additional features optimized for iPadOS expected to arrive in a 2020 release.
