Orange has confirmed that the iPhone 3G and 3Gs will be available on the Orange network in the UK from 7am on 10 November, on Pay Monthly and Pay As You Go (PAYG) price plans, for business and residential customers.
The iPhone will be available in all 402 UK Orange stores, its online shop, telesales channels, and Orange HMV concessions, as well as through Apple Retail Stores, Carphone Warehouse, Phones4U and other selected high street partners. A number of Orange stores across the UK* will be celebrating the launch of iPhone on Orange with early opening times from 7am on November 10th, with other stores across the country keeping their doors open until late. Orange globally now offers iPhone in 28 countries and territories.
For Pay Monthly customers, the iPhone 3G 8GB handset is free on a choice of five tariffs, ranging from 29.36 (150 minutes, 250 texts per month) to 122.34 (unlimited minutes and texts). The 122.34 Traveller tariff, only available on 24-month contracts, also includes roaming calls and data. The phone is also available on an 18-month contract at a price of 96.50, or free on 44.04 or 73.40 monthly tariffs.
The iPhone 3Gs 16GB costs 125 on a 29.36 per month tariff, 87 on a 34.26 tariff, and is free on higher monthly tariffs, all on a 24-month contract. This handset also comes on an 18-month contract, for free on a 73.40 tariff, 87 on the 44.04 tariff, and 184.50 on the two entry-level tariffs. Prices for the 32GB version range from free to 225 on a 24-month contract, and from 96.50 to 274 on an 18-month contract.
All plans include unlimited UK mobile data usage on Oranges data network. In addition customers will also get free unlimited use of the UK's largest single public wi-fi network, BT Openzone.
For non-contract customers, the iPhone 3G costs 343; the 3GS 8GB costs 440; and the 3GS 32GB costs 539. These prices include 250MB of data each month, plus unlimited use of BT Openzone, for 12 months. Customers who want to use their iPhone to get mobile broadband on their laptop can take out additional data bundles starting at 5 per month.
Since we announced the iPhone on Orange we have already seen more than a quarter of a million customers register their interest on our website, says Orange UK CEO Tom Alexander. We will be matching their enthusiasm with a 3G mobile broadband network that covers more people in the UK than any other operator, a commitment to deliver the best 3G experience on the iPhone and best-in-class applications and plans. Earlier this year we stated our ambition to become the destination brand of choice for high end mobile users in the UK. With the launch of the iPhone on November 10 were pleased to be fulfilling that ambition.
