Tradedoublers Neil Ranatunga: “Retailers must plan and map their advertising strategy against consumers’ purchasing habits”

The first Monday in December has long been known as Mega Monday or ‘Cyber Monday’, due to being the the busiest day for Christmas shopping online. Last year, according to Tradedoubler data, the day saw a 25 per cent uplift in sales.

However, Tradedoubler says, UK retailers should also be preparing for the day before, which its terming ‘Super Tablet Sunday’.

Last year, tablet sales on the first Sunday in December were 35 per cent higher than the previous day – and five per cent higher than ‘Mega Monday’. On the Sunday, tablets made up 74 per cent of mobile sales, compared to 69 per cent for the Monday.

“Tablets are the ultimate device for making those convenient purchases while chilling on the sofa, and Sunday is typically a relaxing day,” said Neil Ranatunga, head of mobile UK & Ireland at Tradedoubler. “Therefore, retailers must plan and map their advertising strategy against consumers’ purchasing habits to target tablet users over the busy festive cyber period, to optimise their sales opportunities on ‘Super Tablet Sunday’ as well as ‘Mega Monday’.”
