ROK Buys Fonedream to Create ROK Media

Mobile technology and content applications developer ROK Entertainment Group  has acquired content development company Fonedream.  Formed in January 2000, Fonedream has become a major mobile content creator and content delivery company, with supply agreements into a number of networks, including Virgin Mobile, Vodafone Live! and Orange, as well as companies such as Jamster and AOL.
Fonedream, which has 10 full-time staff and a roster of 30 creative contractors, will become known as ROK Media Ltd, with Fonedream founder Graham Baines taking the role of CEO.
Wed been looking to work with a larger mobile technology innovator for some time and had been watching ROK with increasing admiration over the last couple of years says Baines. In ROK, we have found what we believe to be the perfect fit a company that understands and can implement original IP in content services and delivery on a global scale.
For ROK, Chairman and CEO Jonathan Kendrick adds:
Graham has amassed a real pool of talent over the past few years and with that talent he has developed some fantastic applications which we are delighted to add to our ever-growing product portfolio. Grahams team at ROK Media will be a creative skunk works going-forward, with a broad brief to create ever-more dynamic and appropriate content-delivery applications.
ROK has developed a suite of patented and patent-pending content-delivery applications and services over the last two years, including the launch of the worlds first mass-market 2.5G mobile TV delivered over GPRS and wi-fi, as well as DRM-protected content-loaded memory cards, include TV programmes and full-length movies, and a unique set-top space-shifting set-top box called BLCX which throws TV to mobile phones over the internet.
Last week, ROK announced a strategic shift from exclusively developing new products to a greater focus on marketing these applications with networks and manufacturers worldwide.
