Finnish game developer Rovio has partnered with the NFL to bring a taste of the upcoming Super Bowl LII to the studio's Angry Birds 2 and Angry Birds Evolution games. A limited-time event within the apps will enable users to access exclusive content and customise their characters with in-game items related to the Super Bowl.
Within Angry Birds 2, mobile gamers and football fans will be able to outfit their flocks with a choice of any of the 32 official NFL jerseys and helmets to compete in brand new Super Bowl-themed game levels, as well as in-game competitions.
In Angry Birds Evolution, the Super Bowl LII event will introduce 32 new NFL characters into the game, as well as an exclusive new bird character called the Quarterback, who will be outfitted in an NFL team jersey. The event will carry over into the game's player-vs-player environment, 'The Oinktagon', which will get a Super Bowl LII-themed makeover transforming it into a football field.
"Our partnershup with Rovio Entertainment illustrates the NFL's desire to engage fans through unique experiences," said Michelle Micone, senior vice president of consumer products at NFL. "The Angry Birds portfolio provides an excellent platform to reach millions of mobile gamers and football fans around the world."
