Salesforce working on blockchain-based product

Blockchain, the technology sitting at the foundation of cryptocurrency, is predicted by many to have a larger and more transformational affect on the digital world in the long run compared to Bitcoin and its brethren, so its no surprise that some of the worlds largest firms are exploring exactly how the technology can benefit them.

Salesforce can now be added to the list of global companies working on a blockchain product, with co-founders Marc Benioff and Parker Harris discussing the topic during an interview with Business Insiders Julie Bort at the end of March.

Speaking to the World Economic Forum in Switzerland, Benioff told the audience how there was a crypto conference occuring nearby, and he had been speaking to an attendee while at a Salesforce event at the Intercontinental Hotel. The conversation led to Benioff investigating how blockchain could be used as part of the Salesforce family of products.

“I had been thinking a lot about what is Salesforces strategy around blockchain, and what is Salesforces strategies around cryptocurrencies, and how will we relate to all of these things,” said Benioff. “A lot [of these ideas] comes from paying attention, listening. Theres new ideas coming all the time.”

Benioff said that he hopes that Salesforce will have some form of blockchain or crypto-based solution ready to announce for this years Dreamforce, the companys annual customer conference. This years Dreamforce is set to take place in San Francisco on 25-28 September, so the firm doesnt have a huge amount of time to get developing.
