Samsung revealed plans for its UK developer programme at last nights Mobile Monday event in London.
The UK-only programmme, which will launch at the end of September, seeks to build quality relationships with app developers to bring together all Samsung-compatible apps into one ecosystem, consistent across all devices, including its smart TVs.
The preview outlined two services; the basic one is open to anyone and will include monthly developer newsletters highlighting new features and products, events and tutorials.
The premium service will also be free, but will be restricted to 40-50 partners. Each chosen development house will have a dedicated account manager offering personal support, free test hardware, app promotion with Samsung’s network of power bloggers, speaking opportunities, and pre-release SDKs.
Manfred Bortenschlager, head of Samsung’s Mobile UK Developer Programme, said: “As an OEM, we are innovating more than ever before. We want to work with developers to be as creative as they can be and they will be rewarded with exposure in relevant app stores.”
Keith O’Brien, Samsung UK head of content strategy, used his keynote speech at the event to outline the company’s view on successful app marketing. He said design, identity, presentation within the relevant app store, choosing the right home for your app, and pricing were all key considerations.
