Samsung Wallet Arrives in Google Play

The Samsung Wallet has finally arrived in the Google Play store in the US, but is without NFC, which was rumoured to be coming through a deal with Visa using payWave.

The Passbook-style app was unveiled at MWC in February to offer mobile ticketing, coupons and loyalty, and went live with Samsung Apps in Korea back in May. US launch partners were listed at the conference to include Booking.com, Expedia, Hotels.com and Lufthansa.

The app is available only for Samsung devices, according to SammyHub.com, and looks to be using barcodes for redemption purposes. Google is removing NFC for loyalty within its Wallet, although maintaining it for making payments, while Apple is yet to make a move here.
