Sccope Launches iPhone App

Sccope, the consumer shopping assistant, has launched an iPhone application that brings combines prices from the UKs top 100 retailers (including Amazon, Comet and John Lewis); a barcode scanner to check the best price while shopping; a comprehensive product search tool; and stock and price drop alerts. Sccope updates it prices daily from an independent database provided by NetPrice.
The barcode scanner uses the iPhones camera to enable shoppers to scan a barcode on a package in store and check the price against Sccopes 280,000 separate product numbers and 4 million different price points. If no barcode is available, shoppers can type in the product name to get price comparisons.
Customers can also check stock levels with different retailers, and set an alert to inform them when a product is back in stock with a favourite retailer. Retailer vouchers and special offers can also used via the app.
By turning their iPhone to landscape, shoppers can review graphs of historical price information to see if the current price is competitive. Products can also be added to a personal wish list for those users that are registered with Sccope
The App is available from the Apple App Store for 1.19.  It requires iPhone 2G, 3G 3GS or later and OS 3.1 or OS 3.0 without scanning, or iPod touch OS 3.0 or later.
We are in the business of making sure that our users get the very best prices on their purchases, says Sccope CEO, Douglas Orr. Our iPhone app takes this service to a new level with the ability to quickly and accurately scan barcodes and compare prices while shopping. Consumers can be even more confident that they have the very best information before they purchase with Sccope on their iPhone.
