ScotRail has launched two branded smartphone apps – the first, GlobeTrotter, is a game which challenges users to record visits to as many ScotRail station as possible with the Facebook check in function, in order to win prizes.
Just the Place, meanwhile, presents user with attractions and events accessible using ScotRail trains, along with deals from nearby hotels, restaurants and venues.
“Customer feedback has shown increasing demand from people of all ages to engage with ScotRail using their smartphones,” says Graeme Macfarlan, ScotRail’s marketing manager. “These apps are the latest elements of our ongoing efforts to embrace smartphone technology and social media, to benefit customers and the company.”
The apps follow a digital strategy from the train operator, which has recently launched a Facebook page, a travel updates app, and rolled out BlackBerry handsets to more than 800 on-train staff.
