Mobile media company 3 has struck a three-month deal with Microsofts msn.co.uk website, to create a branded MSN Space for 3s SeeMeTV channel, which displays user-generated content, shot by 3 customers.
MSN Spaces is MSNs online blogging tool where users can share thoughts, photos, music lists and, for the period of the deal, video clips taken with their 3 video mobiles. The agreement will enable 3 customers to submit short videos taken on their video mobiles or digital cameras to an email address. The ten best video clips will be posted daily on the 3 MSN Space, where other users can vote for favourite clips and post blogs. At the end of each week, a 100 prize will be awarded to the video that receives the most votes, with a 1,000 prize for the overall winner.
SeeMeTV has achieved over 4 million downloads since its launch in November 2005. MSN Space will showcase the service to a new online audience. This deal builds on an existing relationship between the two brands which saw 3 sponsor the MSN Messenger theme pack last year.
“This new mobile blogging agreement illustrates a new medium for online advertising and demonstrates the potential value of advertising on a web 2.0 application” says
msn.co.uk Digital Marketing Manager, Katy Adelson. “These are exciting times for online as we see new avenues for advertising and innovative campaigns evolving. Our aim is to strive to produce creative campaigns that really engage the consumer and encourage user interaction.”
For 3, Marketing Director Graeme Oxby adds:
“This original and innovative campaign strengthens 3s reputation as a pioneering, creative company. It enhances the relationship we have built with MSN over the past twelve months and highlights features of our unique SeeMeTV channel in a relevant way. This is another UK first for MSN and 3, and further evidence that the worlds of mobile, media and communications are rapidly converging.”
